Lynn Newsom, Vice President of Engineering

Lynn Newsom has been evangelizing advanced broadband communications for more than 36-years. He is an industry veteran who has held leadership positions at the industry’s leading operators and vendors.

As VP of Engineering at Broadband International (BBI,) Mr. Newsom oversees product development from concept of design through successful deployment to the largest operators worldwide. Since 2008, Lynn has been driving BBI’s products to mass market while also managing a team of highly skilled senior design engineers, overseeing quality control and industry standardizations, and creating customer training and development programs. Newsom has developed over 500 new products in 8-years resulting in revenue growth of over 500%.

Prior to joining BBI, Newsom served as Vice President of Engineering and Construction at AT&T where he designed, implemented and managed all aspects of engineering and network operations in the Atlanta region. Newsom and his team of over 350 technicians and engineers were instrumental in launching the company’s emerging telecommunications services including video on demand, digital video, high-speed data and digital telephone services. Before his tenure at AT&T, Newsom served in executive leadership positions at Media One, Access Telecommunications Interconnect and Prime Cable / GCTV.

Lynn has attended Lanier Technical College where he studied Electrical Engineering. He is also a graduate of Elkins Institute of Technology where he studied Electronics and Electrical Engineering. An NCTI graduate in 1988, Mr. Newsom has also completed numerous advanced trainings and courses from Oglethorpe University and ONI, and he holds a First Class Radio Telephone License from the Federal Communications Commission.

He previously served as the president and chairman of the Chattahoochee Chapter of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, and previously served on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Interfaith Broadcaster TV Station. In 1993, Mr. Newsom was inducted into the SCTE Tower Club in recognition of demonstrated leadership in the CATV industry
